Bullfrog Highway. Bullfrog Hollow. The Tunnel of Trees. Whichever name you know it as, almost everyone knows and loves it. Over the years there have been countless photos taken, weddings held, and memories made on that road. It’s the road leading to the popular fishing hole “Penny Park” and the village of Eastlake.
The trees are iconic, beautiful, and rapidly deteriorating. It’s been the general consensus that to lose them entirely is NOT an option. Enter the “Beautiful Bullfrog” committee.
We are a non-profit group that has come together to take action in preserving and sustaining the black willow trees that make the road so beautiful. As with all projects, this will require some fundraising, elbow grease, and heart from those who know and love the road so well.
We have several charity events planned within the next few months, and donation cans placed with many local businesses. A few members of our committee have also designed M-55 Bullfrog stickers that are available through Janet Golden at firstname.lastname@example.org, or at CR Reusch Jewelers of downtown Manistee. The stickers are $6 apiece and all proceeds go directly to the Bullfrog project. If you are interested in helping with this cause, you can contact us through the Facebook group “Beautiful Bullfrog!”
Look for us in the Forest Festival’s Independence Day Parade and other local events!
